#HeritageChat – 20 June – Heritage and the High Street

Editor News

June’s #HeritageChat explored ‘Heritage and the High street’. Participants discussed the future role high streets will play in society and how they can be best used now.

The chat covered the information that is currently available for communities wishing to get more involved in the future of their high streets (and what’s missing), how the various interested parties can work together and how to engage with green infrastructure initiatives. A popular talking point was Historic England’s newly announced High Streets Heritage Action Zone programme and how its funding should be targeted to maximise impact, and the Architectural Heritage Fund’s ‘Transforming Places Through Heritage’ that will launch soon. You can catch up on all the discussions in the summary here.

The future of our high streets is a priority area for our Constructive Conservation and Sustainable Management working group. Click here to read about all the work they have been doing on this topic, including a document that maps sector activity, which you can add to online.

The next chat will take place on 18 July.
