Sector Events

The Heritage Alliance regularly hosts sector-wide events that welcome heritage professionals, volunteers, and anyone interested in expanding their knowledge of the sector and making valuable connections. We aim for these open events to inform, empower, and inspire. Whether you are looking to gain new skills, stay updated on the work of heritage leaders, or simply meet with like-minded peers, our sector-wide events provide dynamic spaces for exchanging ideas and strengthening the heritage community.

  • Every November, we host an exciting Heritage Debate – a lively panel discussion that tackles a pressing current issue within the heritage sector. Past topics have included how to build sustainable heritage careers, what the ‘levelling up’ agenda means for heritage, and how the sector can engage with more diverse audiences.
  • Our flagship annual event is the Heritage Day Conference, which presents a unique opportunity for the heritage community to come together, celebrate its achievements, and learn about the latest insights, challenges, and opportunities. Attendees come from a diverse range of backgrounds: heritage sector professionals, but also representatives from charities, businesses, research organisations, and government departments. The conference aims to inspire conversations and connections to propel the sector forward.

Members of the Heritage Alliance can access special discounts on ticket prices for our sector-wide events, whilst also benefitting from our exclusive member-only events programme curated around their needs and interests. You can learn more about our Member Events by clicking here.

Funding for the core costs of our events programme comes from membership subscriptions and donations, through Historic England’s grant schemes, and through the generosity of external corporate sponsors. Ecclesiastical Insurance is our core organisational sponsor.
