Ingrid Samuel joined the National Trust as a conservation director in 2011. As Historic Environment Director, she has strategic responsibility for policy development and advocacy, research and practice across archaeology, historic buildings, landscapes, parks and gardens. Ingrid is also the Trust’s strategic lead for Land Use Planning, in which capacity she oversees planning policy and national projects relating to major infrastructure such as HS2, and chairs the NT’s Planning and Major Infrastructure Forum. She has a doctorate in history from the University of Cambridge.
