The Council will support government in the implementation of heritage policy in England and bring the sector’s issues, challenges and opportunities to the attention of government such as planning, environmental protection, social and economic development, education, health and wellbeing.

Supported by local GPs and health groups, research has shown that there are five ways to wellbeing that we can all enjoy. So if you live or work near one of the Canal and Rivers Trust’s [Alliance member] wonderful waterways  here’s how they can help  you achieve five ways to wellbeing.

Museums on Prescription has won Royal Society of Public Health Awards, one for ‘Health & Wellbeing’ in the category ‘Arts and Health’ and the other, a special commendation for ‘Sustainable Development’.

Guislain in Ghent (Belgium), individuals from the public, academic, third sector and voluntary sectors to promote learning, discussion and debate around interventions with cultural heritage with the aim of improving the wellbeing and health of people recovering from mental health problems or people in a vulnerable situation.

He writes: ‘By focusing on the synergies between the two sectors, we want to unleash the creative potential of technology and boost the capability of cultural organisations to support our future economy and the wellbeing of the country.

The results indicate that places support us in four areas; mental wellbeing, nostalgia, security and survival.

What Works Wellbeing has published Drivers of wellbeing inequality. Although the research wasn’t specifically looking for a link between heritage and wellbeing, it found one.
