Community Engagement Officer – Heritage Lottery Fund

Salary: £31,548 – £33,291 per annum (2.5 Years Fixed Term)

Location: based at Merton Civic Centre, Morden SM4 5DX

 

Work is underway to deliver the improvement of the historic Canons House in Mitcham and its surrounding grounds via the National Lottery Heritage Fund. Merton Council is seeking a community engagement officer to work with the council, the local community, businesses and other key stakeholders to deliver the crucial community based activities that will complement the construction programme.

The project will help to develop a high quality destination in the Borough, enabling casual visitors and the local community to appreciate and enjoy The Canons House and Grounds as a place for relaxation, refreshment and recreation.

Applications are invited from highly motivated and enthusiastic individuals who have a good understanding and experience of managing and delivering a detailed community focused activity plan, and we are keen to receive applications from individuals with experience and a working knowledge of organising activities.  This role will require close work with volunteers, schools, and local institutions, and the project’s design and construction team. The essential objective of this position is to encourage participation and interest in The Canons project which requires an understanding of the role and impact of heritage within the local community and experience of working in culturally diverse areas.

You will be responsible for the continuation of the delivery of an Activity & Interpretation plan in partnership with professional partners, community representatives, and council colleagues. Experience of procuring and managing suppliers; maintaining strong partnership relationships, keeping to budget, project evaluation and experience in horticulture or working with gardening volunteers particularly for heritage projects are required”
