National Trust – Consultant for Bath Assembly Room Statement of Significance

December 12, 2019

The National Trust (NT) [Alliance Member] aims to produce a Statement of Significance to inform the creative and interpretive vision for Bath Assembly Rooms Project. With the Trust due to take the Assembly Rooms back in hand in 2023, the project aims to determine how the NT will showcase the significance of these important Georgian buildings in their social and historical context, whilst exploring how they can continue to play a role in the life of the city of Bath.

A cornerstone of the project is to understand the significance of the building, how it has been used and been changed through time, features to be uncovered and celebrated, and ultimately inform its Spirit of Place. This will guide how NT reveals the buildings, the stories they tell and the way in which they move, teach and inspire those who visit. It will also allow them to plan how best to protect and conserve these buildings for the future.

If you are interested in this commission, please contact the Project Manager alex.instrell@nationaltrust.org.uk for a copy of the Invitation to tender/brief, quoting ‘Bath Assembly Rooms Statement of Significance’ in the title.

Please note that this is a two-stage tender process. The closing date for initial responses is 5pm on Monday 16 December 2019, providing information on your organisation including general approach, team, previous work and rates. Short listed applicants will have the opportunity to create and present a detailed final submission specific to the project, and informed by site visits, in Jan/Feb 2020.
