English Heritage has published two Historic Environment Advice notes for consultation with a deadline of 17th April 2015.
The consultation’s, Conservation area Designation, Appraisal and Management, and Making Changes to Heritage Assets, are intended to assist local planning authorities, planning and other consultants, owners, applicants and other interested parties in implementing historic environment policy in the National Planning Policy Framework and the related guidance given in the Planning Practice Guidance.
Both documents are re-drafts of previous publications in light of the Taylor Review of Planning Guidance. These documents, along with various Good Practice Advice notes and additional Historic Environment Advice notes will replace both the PPS 5 Planning and the Historic Environment: Historic Environment Planning Practice Guide (2010) and various pieces of English Heritage guidance, as part of a wider guidance review the organisation is currently carrying out.
The PPS5 Practice Guide remains in place for the time being but we are expecting that Government will cancel it once the post-consultation versions of these advice notes and the accompanying Good Practice Advice notes are published.
Responses should be sent by the due date to GoodPracticeConsultation@english-heritage.org.uk mailbox. For more information see the English Heritage website.
