Compulsory purchase processes consultation

May 26, 2015

The Department for Communities and Local Government and HM Treasury has published a consultation outlining plans to improve the Compulsory Purchase process.

Published under the Conservative-Liberal Democrat Coalition, the Consultation, Technical consultation on improvements to the compulsory purchase process, is seeking views on a range of proposals which aim to make the compulsory purchase regime clearer, fairer and faster with the intention of bringing forward more brownfield land for development.

Alongside the consultation, DCLG has also published updated guidance on the compulsory purchase process for comment, which will cancel 13 other circulars and guidance documents when the finalised document is published.

The consultation closes on 9 June 2015. For more information see the DCLG website.
