Chawton House Gardener

Location: Chawton House, Alton

Salary: £22,000 FTE

Deadline for applications: 22nd October 2019, interviews will take place on either November 6th or 7th at Chawton House.

Chawton House wishes to appoint a new Gardener to lead a talented and committed volunteer team in the care of the Gardens and Grounds. You will be responsible for developing and maintaining the gardens and carry out work on the wider estate. Working as part of a small but dedicated staff team, you will work with colleagues and volunteers to reflect the remarkable collection and story of the Chawton House Estate in the gardens and grounds and create an engaging visitor experience.

This role is an exciting opportunity for someone with good garden maintenance experience and sound horticultural knowledge. Chawton House is looking for applicants that are familiar with historic or country house gardens, have knowledge of kitchen and rose gardens, and demonstrate a good understanding of project management. A good communicator, applicants should have experience of mowing formal lawns and hedge trimming and working with interns and/or volunteers.
