Giving to Heritage
Giving to Heritage is The Heritage Alliance’s new programme in partnership with the Institute of Fundraising to boost the skills and confidence necessary to secure greater success in accessing funding from private and corporate sources.
The programme aims to reach some 4000 people active in the independent heritage sector, and will strengthen the sector’s financial resilience by helping to diversify its sources of income in an increasingly competitive market.
Delivered in a unique partnership with the leading training provider the Institute of Fundraising, it will draw on the Heritage Alliance’s unsurpassed access to the heritage community, ensuring it is tailored to their specific needs.
Staff, volunteers, committee members or trustees from heritage organisations or community projects with a heritage focus and with responsibility for raising private sources of funds.
The extended programme offers 38 workshops across England on a variety of fundraising subjects and 7 workshops on social investment and community shares. There are also ‘masterclasses’ available for more experienced fundraisers. In addition, there will be 10 webinars, 50 consultancy and support sessions and bespoke executive coaching opportunities.
Training is available under the extended programme from June 2016 to July 2017.
The workshops take place at heritage venues at easily accessible locations across England. Exclusive workshops and bespoke executive coaching may also be delivered at the heritage organisation’s own choosing and by arrangement with the GTH project team. Consultancy and support sessions may be arranged by phone, or face to face at mutually agreed locations or at specific events such as Funding Fairs. Webinars can be accessed remotely live or on demand.
The Alliance’s extensive membership network and Heritage Update will be a key means of disseminating information. The Alliance will promote Giving to Heritage and other Catalyst partner projects through Heritage Update and signpost them on the Giving to Heritage website.
Giving to Heritage is funded by the Heritage Lottery Fund under the Catalyst initiative, a partnership initiative between HLF, DCMS and Arts Council England (ACE) to encourage more private giving to culture and heritage, and to build the capacity and skills of cultural and heritage organisations to fundraise from private donors, corporate sources, trusts and foundations.
Giving to Heritage is funded by the Heritage Lottery Fund under the Catalyst initiative, which is also funding eight other programmes. See the other Catalyst programmes here.
